This Week in Tarot: Get the Creative Juices Flowing!

This week we have the wonderful Ace of Wands!

It's all about fire energy this week! Spring Equinox is happening this weekend (March 20th), So the Ace of Wands is lighting a fire under your hiney, letting you know now is the time to get moving and grooving baby! If you've been feeling tired, emotional, and reclusive- wash off the sleeping potion and reclaim your inner power (your inner fire!).

If there's a project, (especially a creative one) that you've been putting off, get started on it. Write the rough copy, sketch ideas, collect paint chips, etc. get the creative juices flowing with some inspiring ideas. The energy this week could make us feel overly zealous, and it's important not to set our sights too high. It's great to start new things, but remember to finish them as well.

Plant the seeds for tomorrow, but don't forget to water them occasionally.

You've got the power honey, #MakeItHappen

Creativity & Fear: Why You're Not Getting S*** Done!

Before the Virgo full moon on Monday the 22nd, I was procrastinating on a personal project of mine. I used to be the queen of starting projects but then never finishing them, and then completely avoiding them (I had a crown and everything. Ha!). But seriously, I started feeling guilty about it. I knew I needed to sit down at my computer and start typing. Just START already Hali!

It got me thinking- why do we do this to ourselves? I love what I do, and this project is no different. It started as a dream, then a rough sketch of ideas, and finally, I'm now seeing all the pieces come to together. It's exciting! I can't wait to launch it! So why am I avoiding it like an annoying old high school acquaintance at the grocery store?

Luckily, I have this amazing book called 'Art & Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking' By: David Bayles & Ted Orland. I can't remember for the life of me, where I found this little treasure, but I've had it for many years. When ever I feel uninspired, or like my passion project is getting tedious- I re-read the sections I've underlined in this book. They always make me see that there is indeed a little piece of fear inside of me spoiling the moment. What am I afraid of? (Something I need to look into!) After reading it, I found my mojo again, and began typing furiously. I pimped out my calendar, created some goals, AND deadlines (something I never do for myself). I'm on track. No more, "I'll just finish it tomorrow". NO! "I WILL finish it TODAY". No excuses.

On a side note: I've been watching the show, "Bar Rescue". I now always quote Jon Taffer (voice impression and all!) "I don't embrace excuses! I embrace solutions!" Amen Jon! Now I need a drink.

"You...cling to what you already know you can do- away from risk and exploration, and possibly further from the work of your heart. You find reasons to procrastinate, since to not work is to not make mistakes. ...To demand perfection is to deny your ordinary (and universal) humanity, as though you would be better off without it. Yet this humanity is the ultimate source of your work; your perfection denies you the very thing you need to get your work done."
